Birthday Party Ideas for Twins

One thing that parents with twins sometimes have trouble with is thinking about how to theme a birthday party that will make both twins happy, especially if they both like different things, if one is a boy and one is a girl or if they just never agree on anything! The one option that doesn’t always work is rotating year after year on who gets to choose. However, throwing two different parties is way too expensive! That’s why I recommend three types of parties that could be fun for everyone.

Superheroes and Villains Parties

These are fun for both boys and girls if your twins are younger. Have each one of the twins pick being a hero or a villain. If it is a boy and a girl, you can have them choose either heroes or villains and have the two teams separate by boys and girls. For games, pit the two teams against each other and have the twins be the captains of their teams. Not only will games be more fun, but the twins can each invite their friends to join and nobody will be left out of any games or fun. You can play everything from Capture the Flag to Hide-and-Seek and even run relay races or have each team compete against each other in a scavenger hunt that is themed toward superheroes and villains.

Broadway and Karaoke Parties

If no one can decide on what the party should be, why not try a Karaoke and Broadway Party? There are tons of fun songs for twins to sing like “We Go Together,” “Who Will Love Me as I Am” (but you can make it a happy song), “Casting Call for a New Best Friend” (if they are older and can handle adult language), and everyone loves to sing their own favorite songs — especially now that shows like Glee have their own versions of karaoke CDs. If you don’t have a karaoke machine, you can always use YouTube and hook your computer up to the TV or loud speakers. Everyone loves to sing, and you can do a ton of contests and prizes like best performance, duet, funny song, etc….

Sports and Relay Parties

One thing that is fun to do if your kids are athletic is to make it a sports-themed party. You can have three-legged races, potato-sack races where two people have to be in the same bag or even jump roping with both people jumping at the same time. There are a ton of games, and you can pair everyone up into twos while they compete with each other.

Choosing a theme that is generic and can be fun for everyone is one of the hardest things to do for twins, but if you think about something that is affordable and can make everyone happy, birthdays become a lot easier.
